new dictionary

ginworld.net and songevolution.com have joined forces [as powerless as that is :) ] to form a new "wiki" based project called "ginktionary" [untill a better name is selected - and all ideas are welcome] - here is how it works, or is supose to work:

ginktionary is an open dictionary of emerging terms - we are looking for people to write definations to terms that are meaningful to the emerging church. sure, we have wikpedia and it's a great thing - this is just like that, except for terms that are used in the emerging.

being that it is new, just launched today, we still have some tweeking to do - but come on by and add definations, ideas and expressions. at ginkworld, and at songevolution, we believe that all people should have an active voice in the emerging. here is a way of getting your voice heard, and your views expressed - free, open and real.

a new blog

i am in the process of moving to north carolina. in that move, i would love to get this blog rolling and focus on issues that are facing us in the southeast. if you are connected to an emerging ministry in the southeast, i would love if you added your voice to this new collaborative blog.

the idea is to be a place where people can find out what is happening in our area. conferences, gatherings, events, new churches, new expressions - what ever it is - we can be a collaboration of people looking to be a light to those seeking a way in this crazy thing we call emerging - if it's you, cool - join. if you know of others, cool - spread the word :)

i posted this on A Kingdom Space, but wanted to share it with the tribe. sorry if you had to see it twice...

when the church sucks the life out of ministry...

i received an email back from a young lady that for the past 2 years (first 2 years in college) ran a downtown homeless ministry on her own. she visited our church sometimes, and many of our people ministered with her from time to time. i emailed her to get the details for the new semester, and here's the reply:

Hey Aaron,

I am sorry to say that no, I am not doing the homeless ministry any more...I am involved with my church now, so my time for activites is limited. If you do have anyone interested in starting up a ministry, I have a bagillion New Testaments at my house that they are welcome to have. Downtown Phoenix is an awesome place to minister, I miss the guys down there. They were really cool...

i feel deflated that a church would busy a revolutionary to the point they give up their passion, and ministry...

i will admit that i have not been very "supportive" of this group - and for that i am very sorry. over the past few weeks i have not been at any of the chats, and i have tried - but i have let the ball drop. i am willing to give it all another go - if you are all ready to give it ago also - if you are, we need to get a plan (and i am willing to listen to all on that) to get it kicking - email me, post or we can chat monday -

Anyone else going to be around tonight? Now that the holiday season is over, I can be here. But, if no one else is, I'm going to spend the night out with my wife, instead.
